Data Science is a buzzword for the 21st century and is evolving at a transcendental rate impacting almost every aspect of our life. The way we perceive, interact, wear, travel, and perform our work nowadays and twenty years ago has changed completely. We are in a transition phase where Artificial Intelligence is about to take every mundane task the human civilization has experienced to the newest experience and perform more efficiently than ever. The Covid-19 pandemic outbreak in 2020 has brought human society more towards Digitalisation, and Wearable Data Science is emerging at it’s the most entire pace. Apart from fitness trackers and smartwatches, smart clothing, intelligent earphones, etc., are in the innovation list, which are the by-products of the technological revolution caused by the Internet of Things (IoT). If we talk about healthcare, personal fitness, education sector, wearable data science is taking its rage from the necessity to style statement. Wearables devices are becoming new normal, after handheld devices like mobile phones, as they operate with real-time data and provide alerts to athletes, runners, fitness enthusiasts, and patients.
For understanding the research trends in Wearable Data Science, after exploring the Scopus database and following are the number of research papers over twenty years (Fig 1). Clearly, the trend shows that after 2015 the rise in the interest and number of research papers in the Wearable Data Science domain has increased tremendously.

Documents in area of Wearable Data Science over the span of twenty years
If we explore the country-wise trend, the US is seen as the top country contributing to this field, followed by China, the UK, India, and Italy.

Country-wise contribution in area of Wearable Data Science
Wearable Data Science is an emerging and exciting area; it involves researchers from various fields. Smartwatches, heart rate tracker, step tracker, sleep tracker, etc. involves a wide range of subjects to be dealt with. It consists of the study of sensors, app development, user and its data related ethical concerns. It is seen major of the research papers are emerging from Computer Science and Engineering area. Also, the researchers associated with medicine, health professionals, mathematicians, social scientists, and physicists are majorly contributing in this area, as shown below

We can see that Wearable Data Science has several research avenues, which are already explored and yet a lot to be explored. As technology and innovation are evolving at the highest pace than ever, severe steps for policy intervention related to wearable data science are to be encountered. Ethical concerns and user privacy for its data sharing by the stakeholders involved in the field should be brainstormed at an equal pace as product launches. A new world with artificial intelligence as our best companion is waiting for us! Let’s be wiser in how technological consumption helps humanity aim and search for more excellent prospects and avenues in terms of health, education, and the way of living.
