ESDST Philosophy

Constructivism and technology are two philosophical edifices of ESDST.

Constructivist strategies aims to prepare learners to engage in reflective practices that enhances critical evaluation of the emerging situation. Constructivist approach delivers instruction to prepare learners to construct knowledge actively, rather than just acquire knowledge.Technology is employed to design a learning environment that engages learners.

Technology enhanced learning has several advantages such as learning while working helps you to incorporate your learnings immediately in your work-environment, it helps you to reflect upon practical application of your learnings, which empowers you to be critical on implementing concepts into context. This is where you create new paradigms of thought-process, thereby creating and constructing knowledge.

To achieve the technology-enhanced constructivist philosophy of ESDST, following strategies are employed in teaching-learning process:

  • Various case-studies, real data sets, consulting assignments, industry networking, and reflective learning is focussed upon. Technology broadens the diversity and size of the group, which provides further opportunities to learn beyond the geographical boundaries and provides an international perspective to a problem.
  • Appropriate blend of collaborative and autonomous learning is provided that enables learners to co-create and co-develop within the group, while presenting a final hypothesis which is based upon their individual creation.
  • To promote constructivism, appropriate blend of synchronous and non-synchronous tools is employed. Synchronous tools help you to learn real-time and satisfy your enquiries, whereas non-synchronous tools allow you to reflect back and interact with resources in your own time.
